MY STORY

Testimony I Walk with Christ

In 1999, on Valentine's Day I was born three months premature, weighing one pound eleven ounces. Since I was little I have been told I am a miracle and have overcome so much. Growing up, I always attended church every week and have been a believer for as long as I can remember.

My parents were Christians so I would always follow and lead by their example. For a long time, I just went through the motions. I would go to church every weekend, go to youth group, retreats and have the "perfect christian" image from the outside looking in. But on the inside, I felt empty and unfulfilled. It wasn't until I got to college that I truly accepted Christ into my life and realized I wanted a relationship with Him and wanted to grow in my faith.

I have always been very extroverted and a social butterfly so from the start, I got very involved when I went away to school, joining clubs, organizations and ministries. One weekend in the fall of my sophomore year I was invited to go on a retreat with some other universities. At first I was hesitant because I did not know anyone going but I am so glad I went. While I was there, I witnessed the genuine love of the Lord, through the mass, confession, adoration and talks from adults who shared their stories with us. I prayed with others that shared similar beliefs and had authentic conversations about family, friends, school, struggles, strengths and our walks with Christ. That weekend, I said yes to allowing Christ in my life and surrendering everything, all my worries, fears, doubts and past to Him. I was instantly filled with joy and peace knowing that He accepts me as I am.

For a long time, I sought the approval and opinions of others, crazed by the search for perfection. Now, I know I am perfect in His eyes. That is enough. It is all that truly matters. We are all imperfectly perfect and beautifully broken! I know God has a plan for my life. Plans that are far greater than any I could ever imagine. I wholeheartedly believe I am a miracle and it is because of Him that I am here. Without my faith, I would not be who I am today. Each day is a blessing and I can't thank God enough! Through it all, it is well with my soul.
